I somehow managed to convince myself that holding two events in the same weekend at my home was a smart idea. I would only have to clean the house once, i thought. However, when that weekend started to approach, I said to myself “What on earth was I thinking?” But in the end, both events turned out spectacular.
Armed and clad with our matching Hawaiian shirts, we hosted Michael and Jennifer’s wedding shower the day before Easter (great for family members coming into town but not so good for family members going out of town). Everyone had a really good time at a couples shower with a Hawaiian theme, as Mike and Jen were off to honeymoon in Hawaii just after their wedding. A gold star goes to Glenna & Dan Ohlms for providing rocket ballons to the soon-to-be bride and groom, which accounted for hours of fun for all of us.
The next day, Easter was upon us and we had the usual feast with great food followed by the attempt to set off “soda rockets”. Bet you don't have that kind of fun in your family. :) If you're sensing a theme here with rockets, you're correct. This harks back to an extremely old family past time, of scaring and sometimes hitting the cows with different sorts of rockets. Before you call PETA, no animals were harmed in this particular rocket launch (and before it was always an accident). We had a good crowd but to all who looked on with excited anticipation...things didn’t go so well. Comments were flying like “that was a waste of a perfectly good diet soda”. Well, so be it...on to the egg hunt. A few adults hid 60 plastic eggs for the kids and the hunt was on. Then with their baskets brimming with successful finds, the kids hid eggs for all the adults. We don’t think we lost any plastic eggs this year, less the tragedy of mower vs. egg as in previous years. (Mower always wins) I also had a chance to take pictures of our front yard as trees and plants started to bloom, spring is definitely here.

At the end of April we took a trip to Atlanta, GA with Barbara and Larry. Larry did all the driving with Roger doing some navigating and listening to the GPS. It was a timeshare resort near a big lake. Had a great unit and my morning walks near and around the lake was beautiful. We traveled to Stone Mountain, Callaway Gardens, and into the city of Atlanta.
There we went to the Aquarium and the World of Coke building. One day we went to a bluegrass festival and the music was really good—even got a funnel cake, which I love. We had a good time together. One day we just stayed in and played games which was a lot of fun.

The month of May started with the busy weekend of Michael & Jennifer’s wedding on Saturday, May 9th followed by Mothers Day. The wedding was at Westmoreland State Park and it was at a beautiful outdoor site plus the weather cooperated. It was a little breezy but warm. The reception was there at the conference center. We all had a great time celebrating this milestone in their lives. See pictures of wedding. The following day we had a great time having lunch with Wendy and Greg. And after our scheduled family portrait event we went home with Matt, Jill and Annabelle for a lite supper. We were all disappointed as none of the pictures were very good so we are going to reschedule and I am not to talk at all while the pictures are being taken. I was too busy trying to get Annie to smile that the picture was good of her but we had right many funny looking faces of me. Anyway I will keep you posted on that.
Our anniversary was on May 15th and we went to Charlottesville and of course stopped by our "lot" to sit and dream about our new house that will eventually be there. And again with the calendar in May it is time to gear up for bailing hay. Roger is working on tractors, rakes, and wagons. This might be our last hay cutting. YEAH!!!
